From my journal in 2006. I had been juggling for several years with my University juggling club and after graduation I moved overseas to pursue my interest in circus arts.

Suddenly I find myself navigating complex underground transit systems and catching odd double-decker buses following an address to a  group of South London jugglers who rented space in a church every week.

I eventually arrived at the large hall and I started juggling immediately. Soon another contact juggler, one I recognized from a video I had seen online, stands up. He picks up an orange ball, walks out into the crowd, holds it out and slowly isolates the ball by revolving his wrist around the central axis. Then he stops and carefully shifts the ball a foot and a half to the right. He does the isolation again and then shifts it again upwards, creating the visual patten of an imaginary box around him.  It was not a challenge.. not a ‘LOOK WHAT I CAN DO AND YOU CAN’T,” rather it stood out as a detailed and aesthetically very pure movement. It was amazingly ‘clean’; the result of careful repetition and attention.  I was mesmerized.

I had never seen anyone move anything with such precision, skill and grace. I spent the next 4 years in London pursuing this magical quality of movement.
